Prof. Zhongqing Su is Professor and Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He is the current Editor-in-Chief of journal Ultrasonics, and holds Changjiang Chair Professorship. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Sydney, MS and BEng from Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics – all in Aeronautical Engineering. His research interests lie primarily in ultrasonics, structural health monitoring (SHM), wave propagation, sensors, non-destructive evaluation, and advanced composites. He is/was Associate Editor of nine key international journals in his field, including JSV, SHMIJ and ASME JNDE. He has been a Panel Member of Hong Kong ITF since 2021. Prof. Su is the author/co-author of ~350 monographs/chapters/edited international conference proceedings/journal papers/conference proceeding papers, including ~200 papers in leading journals. He has secured sizable research grants from governmental agencies and industry. Prof. Su was the Chair of the 7th Asia-Pacific Workshop on SHM, and has been the Co-chair of two SPIE Conferences. He received a couple of accolades including “SHM - Person of the Year Award”, “Dragon-Star Innovation Award”, twice “Natural Science Award for Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output”, and “PolyU President’s Award for Excellent Research”.
