Prof. Fang received his Ph.D degree from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 1993 and has held positions at the University of Maryland, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Beijing Institute of Technology. He is also the editor-in-chief and editorial board member of several well-known journals. Prof. Fang was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013 and a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2020. Prof. Fang is mainly engaged in the research of mechanics of advanced materials and lightweight lattice composite materials, mechanics of materials and structures under high temperature and extreme environment. He has won Zhou Peiyuan Mechanics Award by The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, International Computational Method Medal, Science and Technology Awards by Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, National Natural Science Award (second class) of China, Natural Science Award (first class) by Ministry of Education of China, Technical Innovation Award (first class) by Ministry of Education of China.
