Gongtian Shen is currently the Vice President of China Institute of Special Equipment Testing and Research. He was the deputy director of the department of China Institute of Special Equipment Testing. He has long been engaged in boilers, pressure vessels, pressure pipelines, lifting machinery, amusement rides and passenger ropeways and other special equipment inspection and safety evaluation of technical research work. He has presided over more than 20 national projects from the "8th Five-Year Plan" to the "13th Five-Year Plan", such as scientific and technological research, support, key R&D programs and the National Natural Fund. He has made a series of breakthrough research results in acoustic emission testing, infrared thermal imaging testing, electromagnetic testing and ultrasonic testing, developed a variety of advanced nondestructive testing instruments and equipment, presided over the formulation of six international and more than 40 national nondestructive testing standards, obtained more than 10 national invention patents, published three monographs, and published more than 200 papers in important publications at home and abroad. He has won 3 National Science and Technology Progress Awards and 7 Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards. He is one of the leading talents in science and technology innovation of the National "Ten Thousand Plan", the first and second level talents of the National "Hundred Million Talents Project" in the 20th century.
